These hidden places
While having a look at this talented photographer’s website, Matt Stuart, I also found out that he’s been working last month for a communication agency called KK Outlet.
Matt, I’ll go back to you later as your work made my day, but let’s first talk a bit about KK outlet, as it seems to be the place I’d quite love to hang around in the next few days. Can’t believe I haven’t noticed it before.
Based in Hoxton Square (East London) and a subsidiary of the based famous Kessel and Kramer in Amsterdam, KK outlet is actually a retail and an exhibition space under one roof, including a gallery and bookshop. But this is also the offices of a communication agency that holds the outlet. In terms of communication business, KK outlet is not completely a beginner as it handles accounts such as the BFI London film festival, J&B, Diesel … and that’s not all.
‘Multifunctional’ is actually the word the agency use to describe how they play with several mediums and disciplines - as design and comtemporary art - to build strategies for their clients. Well… what does it really mean ? So far, some of their creations have been developed in collaboration with artists, designers and photographers, allowing them to offer new faces to brands they promote as they work a lot on brand repositioning. It seems to be a relevant way to insure a unique personality to these brands. The idea of the outlet itself, apart being a showcase for the agency, appears as an added-value to help initiate stimulating work for their clients, and as a proper database for their brands as well.
Here’s a quick overview of what they do :

Save yourself, drink urine : the diesel ironic tone when speaking about youth and beauty.
KK outlet is also showcasing designers and photographers in its gallery. So if you guys are in London this month, what about popping-up to see the work of Norma Bar on exhibition. Running until april 30.
